Ramgiri
Ramnagar is approx 60km from Bangalore city onthe Mysore-Bangalore Highway. Ramnagar has many rocky mountains made of lime
& granite stones suitable for Rock climbing activity. Climbers from all over India visit this climbing spot, there are few bolted routes present on the Ramgiri Betta.
These rocks are amidst dry deciduous and bush forests. Apart from Rock climbing, Ramnagar is also famous for shooting of the
film Sholay.
Savandurga
In Kannada, Durga means Fort (also Goddess Amba). This being one of the nine such forts around Bangalore, is situated at a distance of around 50kms west of Bangalore near Magadi. There are several
rock climbing routes in monolith at Sawana Durga, rising to the height of more than 1000ft, At the foothill there is a village by the same name and the forest around has been declared as
a Reserved forest and there is a protected garden of herbs of medicinal interest.
Rangaswamy Hill
60 Kms from Bangalore, Rangaswamy hill is located in Kanakapura Dist. One can reach the top of the hill
by climbing through shrub forest. The height of the hill is approx. 1500 Ft from the base. There is a path in which the participants can reach the top. On top of the hill there is a Cave Temple. If the campers are lucky, they would be able to see Elephants, Panthers,
the Sloth Bear & other wildlife. |
